About The Lab
Our Story
MIYA Living Lab is a non-profit company founded in 2020 by MIYA with a mandate to use ICT as an enabler to develop innovation that tackles challenges faced by the Eastern Free State disadvantaged communities. The core purpose of the Living Lab is to enhance the use of ICT in various economic driving sectors while also providing an innovation support programme for local innovators and stimulating the development of simple and cost-effective prototypes (created by the community) responding to the community’s problems. The Lab was established with funding assistance from TIA and Department of Education
Key Objectives
Provide innovation support programmes to local innovators
Facilitate quality trainings to targeted beneficiaries on Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Coding and other future fit skils
Develop mobile applications and portals that meet the needs of the community
Facilitate the development of simple, cost effective prototypes
Guide and mentor development of Market Ready products
Support and help the creation of startup companies from innovative ideas
